We Are Outta Here…

Equity Lifestyle (ELS) at Lake George Escape in New York is by far the worst place we have worked. We could not take it another day, so we found other work and we’re moving on.

Lack of communication, absolutely none. Critical decisions were made and not passed down to us at the store or front desk. So many times an email or text message was sent out to guests without informing us. Phones began to ring or worse yet they would arrive at the desk confronting us about something we knew nothing about. It was so frustrating.

·      The disorganization and chaos was everywhere, nobody knew what others were doing within and in other departments which reflected on us informing guests the important information. Nothing was done efficiently or with productivity in mind.

·      Slackers in areas that ended up getting more praise than workers that were quite obviously doing a much better job. Everyone acted as if they were the boss and attempted to run the shift they were on changing important processes for that shift. It was so annoying.

·      The front desk area was a hangout for everyone causing so much noise it was hard so many times to hear people I was on the phone with or trying to check in, it was so embarrassing.

·      Scheduling so many people on so many shifts and not enough on others, then they started sending us home after just a few hours of work. Our schedules changed all the time which always put us on different shifts.

·      Security hardly enforced anything, dogs excessively barking and running loose. Kids being very mischievous and rude allowed to continue without any repercussions. As security stated several times to me that they are not the police and there is not much they can do about it because upper management will not back them up. They were doing the best they could with what they had.

·      A huge percentage of New Yorkers attitudes are rude, obnoxious, and disrespectful. This wasn’t that big of a big deal because we always know how to handle them and put them in their place without them realizing we did.

Then the weather was frightening, most certainly not their fault but just an added thorn to already terrible conditions. It was the wettest weather we have experienced, flooding in the park several different times. I mean flooding to the point of pedestals under water and having guests needing to move to dryer land. It happened on one of my Sunday’s opening shifts that I had been requesting for weeks to put somebody else on with me to help but nobody listened. There was a line out the door when I opened and management knowing that the river was above flood stage when the skies opened up at 5am. Even Jerry and I knew it was going to be bad and we are not familiar with this almost always situation happening. I went into crisis mode and did what I could until help arrived hours later. It was so muggy and sticky most days with 100% humidity, and we hardly had any blue skies or sunshine. It was depressing! So on to better days!

These are just a few of our photos, there were many areas we could not get to because of the rising waters. In the first few photos was our area that had huge puddles but we were on much higher land away from the river so we were safe.
