Meandering in Michigan

Our thoughts were to hang out up north for a few weeks before heading to Arizona where the temperatures are still hot. The temps were high up north in Michigan with a heatwave for the first few days, then adding the extreme high humidity, it wasn’t a good plan. But then the weather changed dramatically, and all was good once again, except for the constant dampness.

We took a side trip further north to the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel in Standish, Michigan and had some fun. The room was fantastic, just as it always is at casinos, clean, spacious and really great amenities.

We hung out for a week at a Thousand Trails Park where we were packed in like a bunch of sardines. The weather was damp for the most part of our stay, but we did rest and relax.

We headed over to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to work the Sam’s Club while we stayed at one of our C2C properties. A nicer park with longer sites, open skies, a hot tub & pool, but still a campground with smokey neighbors with loud dogs and kids.

It didn’t help that sales were slow, especially for such a more summery product as Lt Blender is, but we had fun with the people.

Now, we are heading “home”, Arizona. We are going to take 10 days to get there doing just around 200 miles per day.

September 2023

We paid $10 per night using our Coast to Coast membership for a water, 30/50 amp electric with great power, more than we have experienced in a long time, sewer site on a fairly level grass/gravel lot with a picnic table and fire ring.

Sites were long but not much room in between which made it miserable with the weekend warriors with their fires with wet wood that made it so smokey right into our trailer, kids crying and screaming and barking dogs, it was not fun. We have decided, we are not campground people, we love resorts.

We did go to the spa once, it was nice.

Their laundry room was really small, so we chose to use a local laundromat in town that was really cute.

Great customer service from the workers and the park was quiet.

September 2023

We paid $0 per night using our Thousand Trails membership for a water, 50 amp electric, sewer site on a fairly level grass/gravel lot with a picnic table and fire ring.

Sites were cramped to begin with, then due to all sites being filled with campers that had so many extra vehicles, it was beyond cramped. Trees everywhere, it was a typical campground in the Midwest.

Great customer service from the workers and the park was quiet.

On the Road Again!

We left Pennsylvania and headed to Ohio to begin once again selling Cocktail Mixes at Sam’s Club for Lt Blender.

Our first day, we stopped in Cambridge, Ohio and we learned once again, “You get what you pay for”, Baymont hotels are just not up to our standards.

Years ago, in another city we tried Papa John’s Pizza, and it was terrible, but we thought we would give them another chance, this time we were not disappointed. The wings were crispy and quite tasty, the knots were so yummy, and the pizza was absolutely fantabulous.

Our next day got us to our destination for the next few weeks in Wapakoneta, Ohio where we will be working at the Sam’s Club in Lima, Ohio. Unfortunately, we found out that they had an EF1 tornado rip through the RV Park this past April which really freaked us out. We stayed in hotels during bad weather which happened our first night. We stayed up in Findlay, Ohio at a Drury Inn and enjoyed the hot tub and a comfortable bed.

The severe storms passed without incident, but we did not want to take any chances. There were several days of severe thunderstorms that we chilled at hotels. One of those nights, actually early 5am there was a severe storm that came through that we are grateful we were in a hotel because the wind was ferocious, and the rain was coming down sideways. It was even scary at the hotel, could not imagine being in the trailer during that one.

We finished off our holiday weekend across the road at the Wapakoneta KOA. It was strange because even though it was just across the road, we somehow felt safer, plus there were no storms forecasted.

We left the area on Monday, Labor Day and headed to Michigan where we have an event scheduled and where we can pick up some of our favorite things before heading to Arizona for the winter…Faygo, Ring Bologna, White Castles, just to mention a few.

August 2023

We paid $292.17 for 4 nights in a water, 20/30/50 amp electric, sewer site on grass/gravel fairly level lot with a picnic table and fire ring over the holiday weekend.

Very clean, well-manicured and quiet park that shows the pride of the workers. The workers were very friendly and accommodating people.

Sites were cramped and the driving in and out was challenging.
