We paid $40 per night for a back in, actually a pull IN site since the poles were shared and if we backed into our site none of our hookups would have reached.

There is no room for anything on the sites, you are crammed in and they were packed...neighbors sloshing into our site and when we got the van, we were sloshing out into the road which got us all a warning on our windshields nightly.

We had been thinking about staying here for years and every time they were booked but finally got to reserve and we soon regretted it but had no choice since there were absolutely NO refunds of any kind given.

The pull through sites were on grass that were beyond wet and you could see how many folks got stuck, at least our sites were gravel so no chance of sinking into the wet mud.

We will not stay here again, even though it is the best choice in this area, we would rather stay 50 miles away at a much nicer park and travel to where we would be working.

This is one of those places you wished were a chain but it is the only location and there are so many great items on the menu to try. If we would have tried this place the first day we arrived in the area, we would have eaten here every day, but unfortunately we found this place on our last day in the area.

The Blueberry Iced Tea, unsweetened was outstanding.

It was lunch so we had sandwiches and they split them in the kitchen, we also had Garlic Fries and Cajun Fries and everything was fantastic.

San Francisco Sourdough Crab & Artichoke – Toasted sourdough, crab, artichokes, onions, parmesan, tomatoes, avocado, jack cheese

New Orleans Shrimp & Crawfish Po’boy Royale – Battered shrimp and crawfish, Cajun remoulade, lettuce, tomato, on a soft roll

Instead of mints at the end of the meal, they serve a heaping helping of Cotton Candy...

We highly recommend this establishment and whenever in our future plans we are in the area, we will definitely try other items on the menu.

Was not impressed with the meal or the service…There was nothing wrong with either but nothing was outstanding. We hardly seen our server but at the same time, we didn’t need anything.

I had one of the Fresh Mex Bowls and the flavors were just okay, sort of blah.

Jerry had the Smokehouse Combo and again it was okay, but nothing outstanding.

If we are ever in the area again, we will eat right next door at Eddie Papa's American Hangout where the service and the food is outstanding.

2017 Update - We paid $44.15 using our Good Sam 10% discount and things have improved slightly but the other choice was so much worse so we opted to stay here again.

2013 Update - We paid $44.15 for a good size pull through and it seems there have been change in management or something since the place was now getting really shabby looking.  The laundry room was a pig sty and we had to wash off the machines before we could even use them and it didn't look as if it was recent dirt, but instead a long time since even being cleaned at all and unfortunately the restrooms looked the same.  Our electricity at our site was iffy but we muddled through for the night.  We will not be making this our stop the next time, there is another park in the area that we will consider.

What a difference a year makes…the last time we were here they had a special rate of $25…today for a water, electric and sewer, back-in with cable and WiFi, it cost us $40 per night. They still do the 10% discount, but that only takes care of the California taxes, no other memberships were accepted.

The area still smelled like garlic, especially in the morning and evenings. The park is very clean and well maintained. The sites are concrete and very level with a patio or extra vehicle pad. We did not use their cable or WiFi since our Verizon MiFi worked perfectly.

We did our laundry in the laundry room which had 6 front load washers and dryers that did our wash well. The restrooms were updated and kept very clean.

They seem to adhere to their Pet Policy which states, “All pets must be on a leash & with you at all times when outside of your RV. No outside fencing or kennels. You must immediately clean up after your pet. Barking and aggressive dogs will not be tolerated or ALLOWED.” They had posted several copies of this and other policies noting that some were not obeying this policy and they will do whatever it takes to assure all is adhering to their policies.

If we are ever in the area again, we would stop here again.

We have added new photos to our Picasa Web Albums...check them out!

We left Pacifica, California and began our journey back to the desert looking for the closest Super Wal-Mart. It was in Gilroy, California so we set our GPS and we were on the road again. It was under a hundred miles but we knew we would be shopping for hours so we chose to stay at the Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park in no other than Gilroy, California. The name should have given us a clue but after shopping for hours we walked out of the store and the smell was so strong, we smelled it on us for days to come. We love garlic, we use to eat it a lot more but we still eat it every chance we get, we just never have experienced such a continuous smell of it.

The Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park was located just a few blocks from the Super Wal-Mart, which made it very convenient for us. The park had a special rate going on of $25 per night for a back-in FHU, but then took an additional 10% off if you had Good Sam, AAA, FMCA, CTPA but also would take off 10% just by mentioning a discount, something that has been unheard of in California…deals…let alone a good deal. Friendliest host we have met in a very long time, he has been there for years and advertises, “Home of the Full Hookup”. They have free cable, free wifi, shower houses and free ice in the laundry room, along with water, electric and sewer. Very well maintained park…again…more like a resort.

If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here again.

2017 Update - We paid $39.60 using our Good Sam 10% discount for a back in on concrete with a patio, electric, water and sewer with free cable and WiFi. This place is still kept up very nicely, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We would highly recommend it and will stay here if we are ever in the area again.

This is more of a resort than a park and since we have passed it by several times on our travels, we chose to give it try this time and we were very glad we did. Conveniently located right off the CA-58 highway, it has many amenities to offer. They do not accept any discounts at any time, we paid $32 for a back-in site, the pull thru was a bit more.

They have excellent, clean restroom & shower houses.

The pool & spa were very inviting but it was freezing so we did not partake in them.

May of 2016 we enjoyed the pools since it reached 90 degrees...hot tub had great jets and not too hot and the pool was cool. We were alone and it was just what we needed to soothe these aching bones.

We will definitely return and recommend this place to anyone even though the price is over our $30 per night budget, it is not that expensive taking into consideration California prices.

We have been invited to stay here many times throughout our years of coming to this area but we just never did, but now that they offer Coast to Coast, we are taking full advantage.

We paid $10 in points with our Coast to Coast membership for a wide and long gravel site that included water, 50/30 electric, sewer, and cable. They also offered WiFi for a price. They did not add any resort fees, taxes or anything else to our total so all we paid was with our points which has become a rare find but a welcoming practice.

This resort is huge and has a spectacular view from high atop this hill. Where our site was located, we did not have any views but we were nestled in so we hardly felt the wind that is very usual for this area and had been frightful many of those days, and the temperatures were frigid most of our stay so even the pool and spa were not inviting at all.

It is nice having two choices in an area where we love to hang out at that we would highly recommend and will definitely be staying at again.

2016 UPDATE - We paid $48.50 for a full hookup in an entirely different area we had never been in and we enjoyed ourselves. It was during our trek across the desert so we wanted to be by the pool and our site was level, our electricity was perfect and the gal that checked us in was wonderful. Now the price is still on the high side but we are okay with that when we checked out the other options in the area and found this one to be the better of them all.

2016 UPDATE - NEVER AGAIN...We paid $48.89 for a water and electric only and our electric was questionable...it was dark by the time we realized just how questionable it was. The person in the office would not allow us to just move into the space in front of us since it was a full hookup. We explained we would just be plugging in the electric, then she claimed it was taken but nobody used it all night. Rates are rising and even though they are adding tent sites and updating the grounds this place will not be on our agenda in our upcoming travels. We have been stopping here since 2008 but we will no longer use this as an overnight stop and we will be attempting to contact someone who is in charge to place a formal complaint. On the website it does not have a manager/owner contact person so we are not sure how to start but we will find a way to get our complaint in the right hands so that this sort of treatment does not continue to happen. Until then we will avoid this place!

2016 Update - We paid $44 with our KOA discount for a site with only water and electric since the full hookups were even higher priced. When we were hooking up our water spigot it bursted and Jerry got soaked, so we moved sites and they fixed it immediately.

2013 UPDATE - We paid $36 with our KOA discount for the same site as before...price is rising and the place just remains the same, no better but no worse.  We would still stay here again if we are ever in the area but may also look into some of the other parks in the area.

We paid $26.00 with our KOA discount and points for a water, electric, sewer, fairly level gravel site. It also included cable, WiFi and shuttle service to Calico Ghost Town which we took advantage of on our first visit. It is definitely overpriced, as most KOA’s are but we always come back. The sites were wide and were private with the way the landscaping was created around them.

We noticed a decline in the appearance of the park, especially in the laundry room. On our first visits the laundry facilities were one of the best we have seen on the road, there were many washer and dryers, even an extra big washer for rugs, which we needed to wash but this time we found there were more out of order than working machines. They had clean individual showers that were being remodeled on our first visit, but have been kept up in the years passing.

The staff has always been the friendliest and accommodating and the store carried many convenient supplies and souvenirs. In our future stays we may check out some of the other parks in the area since this one seems to be going downhill and the price has not.

12/6-12/20/2016, 3/1-3/15/2017

2016 Update – We could repeat ourselves totally as previous posts. Checking in is always a breeze with wonderful customer service. The wind is still frightful at times but how glorious it is to be so warm during the day and no sweater at night while enjoying the stars under clear skies. We just love it here. Even in May the pool was frigid but due to the 100 degree temps it felt wonderful, December...not so much.

2014 Update – We paid $10 in points and then an additional $3 resort fee plus taxes per night but our Verizon was perfect and worked wonderfully.  The wind was still an ongoing issue but not as bad as in the Desert Hot Springs area.

With our Coast to Coast membership we paid a little over $13 per night for water, electric and sewer, fairly level gravel site that includes cable and a patio slab.  The last time we were here they did not have any extra charges, but they now added a resort fee and tax to their price as many others do.  Even with that, $13 per night for a nice resort in a wonderful area is not so bad.  Our phones and MiFi worked fairly well, but they continued to switch from Arizona to Nevada time regularly, they offer Tengo Internet for a small charge but we just moved our MiFi around and it worked.

The laundry room has 10 washers & dryers and seems to be a very busy place but we found the time to use them.  The restrooms were well maintained but as usual we did not use them.

It was quiet and peaceful at night, but during the day every once in a while a loud plane would take off from the small airport that would shake the ground.

The swimming pool and Jacuzzi was kept up well, even though we did not use them due to the weather.

The people are very friendly, both the workers and the guests and it looked as if their rules were enforced, we never seen a dog without a leash and owners were picking up after them.

We will definitely stay here whenever we come through this area again and would highly recommend it to others.

April 2013, 12/11-12/17/2014, 1/22-1/31/2017, 2/15-3/1/2017

2017 Update - Still no additional charges and they continue to treat us so wonderful...the roads were also worked on getting to the resort. It got so bad the last time we were here rattling that our grey tank shook loose but now the roads are much better.

2014 Update - Still no additional charges and they continue to treat us so wonderful here...it's amazing how the customer service here is so much better then many of their other properties since this too is associated with Colorado River Adventures.  The main company should have this manager train the others...

We had water issues several times during our stay and were told by neighbors that it has been going on for the few weeks they were here prior too.  While hooking up, Jerry ran the water as he always does and it began to come out like black soot...the maintenance man immediately came when we called and said they had been working on the water and will blow out the lines, he did and it fixed that issue.  A few days later while I was in the shower the water stopped and was off for about 10 minutes, I had to finish with our pump.

We paid $10 per night with our Coast to Coast membership, no additional charges for water, electric and sewer site on level gravel with a picnic table and barbecue.  Our Verizon MiFi and phones had great reception and for an additional charge they offered cable.

Our first visit we were crammed into a site on the second row from the lake where our neighbor’s awning was touching our rig and the other neighbor was using our picnic table to sit on while he washed his dog on our site.  We were not happy campers but it was convenient for us while we worked nearby and spent our days off here.

The cleaning people must have had the day or maybe the week off because the restrooms and laundry area were dirty and wreaked of a sour smell.  The smell is the water and even in 2014 it still has that smell.

The store carried all the conveniences including beer, wine, ice and even lottery tickets.  The Emerald Tiki Bar served breakfast, lunch and dinner with phenomenal pricing.  They also offered Karaoke and Happy Hour Specials on some refreshing alcoholic beverages.

We stayed here several times while we were working in the area during a slow time in between the winter and summer seasons.  Otherwise we believe this park will be packed with kids, toys and lots of activities in the River Rat’s Kid’s Club, more like a KOA on steroids.

If we are ever in the area we would stay here again, the location is great and being on the water is surreal but we would avoid it during peak seasons.
