BOA Week Four

Extra rest and relaxation was needed this week so after running errands we only drove an hour to the Fairfield Inn on Lake Erie in Port Clinton where we got a room viewing Lake Erie again.

This time we got food from another of our favorite places in town, Jolly Rogers Seafood House that is now in a new location, only a block away from the original location. The Perch, Shrimp, Lobster Bisque… was scrumptious as usual…Fresh Erie Lake Perch is the best!

At this time on our BOA route, we are still able to drive short distances with a day of rest included, but that will soon change as we move into the grueling grind part of the route.

We drove a little over 200 miles to Washington, Pennsylvania, where we stayed at Hyatt Meadows Casino & Hotel. The room was nice with a comfortable king bed and a walk-in shower that was exhilarating. Our first room was not cooling down below 75 but we didn’t realize it until we returned from some play time at the casino, and walking in from the hallway it was a blast of heat coming from our room. Finally got the manager to change our room and she also gave us free breakfast, but she said it was an upgrade, but the room was smaller and as far as we could tell had the same amenities, only less, smaller couch and less area room, BUT, IT WAS COLD, and that was most important to us. I can’t sleep unless it’s under 68, so we slept well.

No mandatory masks have we found anywhere in our past few weeks of travel, there are still some that are recommending them, but nobody is requiring them. It’s strange because we had heard some of these States were enforcing them, but are not finding that at all and we are so grateful, that is until we got to Maryland. Everyone had mask mandates with signs of DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT A MASK ON CORRECTLY! The locals wore them all the time…outdoors, in their cars with no passengers, it was eerily strange.

Our hotel was a frigging nightmare. We have a few criteria’s when we book our rooms, most importantly is parking for the trailer. This place had a HUGE parking lot so we felt it would work for us even though the surrounding area was horrendous, we have not heard so many sirens in one night in a very long time, if ever. They have a bar in the hotel opened until 3am and it got noisy Friday night. But we thought we would tough it out BUT when we got back to hotel Saturday night…NOT A PARKING SPACE AVAILABLE…we could barely make it around the parking lot, some were double parked in spaces. We finally parked along an open area that was not the best but doable. THEN…we think they rent the rooms by the hour because they were having a FUCK FESTIVAL next door with EXTRA LOUD noises that sounded different every time it got restarted and lasted all night long. The loud pumping noise until the wee hours coming from the first floor and we were on the 6th, but not only hear the music but could feel it too. It was not a good time and we got no sleep but we headed out of DC area a day early.

We ordered from a local Italian place that delivered and it was delightful…Jerry had pizza and a salad and I had Mac n cheese and salad…yummy!

Our event also was crazy due to our helper issues…I refuse to have to babysit for someone who blows up my phone for days and shows up and is dumber than a box of rocks…he took his pile of shirts after perfect instructions and he put all sizes in a pile and rolled each one into either a ball or a log. Told him nicely 6 times and all the other workers told him several times how to do it but all he continued to do is that way and began shoving his pile to the others already folded shirts. I took him on the side and told him this wasn’t for him, paid him for his 1.35 hours and had to walk him out the gate. They aren’t screening them very well at all. Several of them wanted to bail after a few hours, so I had to bribe them to stay. It’s just not a good scenario this year and we are both about to lose it.

We’ve had several offers the past few weeks for other work and one especially has been what we’ve been looking for, so there may be a big change coming for us soon.

It seems to be a sad fact that people don't want to work and they don't know how to work. Glad to hear that the majority of your hotels have been good.
