11/5/11, 8/14/13, 3/1-3/6/2016

2016 Note:  We paid $54.43 for 3 of the weekday nights and $63.50 for the weekend nights. Our plan was to just stay 2 nights and check out the local wineries but we had the crud and moving was just not an option, so we sucked it up and paid the high prices and did not check out the wineries...will have to save that for another visit.

2013 Note:  We paid 64.96 for one night with the same conveniences, the place had not changed much since our last visit.  Still a nice place but as usual in California way too overly priced for just a hookup.

They do not take any sort of discounts, so with taxes we paid $129.80 for 2 nights for water, electric, sewer, cable and WiFi pull-thru flat site on a concrete slab with a picnic table. It was a great park, but there is absolutely NO site worth that sort of nightly charge. Our Verizon MiFi and phone service was excellent.

They had loads of activities going on that we did not participate in since the charges were exuberant. They had dinners for an additional $15 per person and ice cream socials for an additional $7 to $10 charge…a bit much for our taste so we chose instead to go to the casino.

One of the reasons we chose this particular park is they advertised free shuttle service to the nearby casino and wineries which ended up being a bit misleading. The wineries were actually wine rooms, almost like a bar setting, not what we wanted. We really enjoy doing a winery tour and then some wine tasting, so we decided to just do the casino which ended up being another disappointment for travel. The free shuttle service only ran every 4 hours, we thought we could work with it but found that we were ready to leave a little after 9 pm and another shuttle was not due until midnight. The place was packed and we went into a losing phase so the next few hours were a bit stressful, but we made it through and caught the midnight ride back to the park.

The amenities were well maintained and kept very clean, but again it was cold so we did not partake in using the pool or spas.

Pet Policy – Quiet pets are welcome as long as they remain on a leash (not to exceed 6’) and under control at all times. Wow! That's expensive.

Haven't found a park yet that I felt was worth that. However, if it were right on the beach, the weather was perfect and they served umbrella drinks .... maybe.

Hi Guys,
We are glad you stayed with us at Flying Flags. I just wanted to point out that the rates were higher than usual due to the Solvang Prelude Bike Ride event. Also its too bad we didn't get a chance to direct you to the winery that is literally within walking distance They love to give tours of the facilities. Maybe next time. Maybe you will get a chance to redeem your free night promotion certificate before the end of Dec. There are no strings attached - It's free!

Thank you Dan for commenting on our review. First, we did ask the woman behind the counter about the wineries and specifically asked for within walking distances since we are not traveling with a tow vehicle, and she directed me to a map and stated most of the nearby wineries are only Wine Tasting Rooms, not wineries.

We also never received any "free night promotion certificate" at check-in or during our stay.

We would like to thank you for your quick response, it is nice to know that parks look for reviews and care what people think about their businesses.
