Seven More Weeks

Not that we are counting or anything but we are getting major hitch itch. It usually attacks us about this time of the longer term commitments we make, but this one seems to be really taking a toll on us. Anyone who thinks cooking/baking is something they may want to try, will need to understand that unless you truly LOVE cooking and baking then it may not be for you. We thought we would enjoy doing something different and we are really grateful we tried it, but as for doing it again, well…

We are really looking forward to the vacation time that comes afterward so we are getting antsy to get back on the road again. Our plan is to leave here mid September and head up to Washington, and then head down the coast of Oregon and into California through the Redwoods, driving the coastal waters for the most part. We have made plans to work a Pumpkin Lot and then a Christmas Tree Lot in the San Francisco area, so we only have a little less than 2 weeks in between the jobs that we plan to do plenty of sightseeing.

We want to welcome and thank each one of our followers, old and new. With all the comments lately and sharing of our blogs, we are really getting to know you all and just cannot wait to eventually meet in person. It warms our hearts having such great friends. As many of you know since we came out here, we have totally lost all of our family members, so it is great having a great community of friends. Again, thank you for all of your comments and please keep them coming.

We went down the to the Canyon again to serve our guests lunch while they came in from their horseback riding for the day. We love it down here, even though the weather was a bit threatening, we made it back just moments before the skies let loose.

September is absolutely a perfect time to visit Oregon and Washington. Weather is normally the best. And, if you like to fish, a great time for that too.

I certainly understand the concept of hitch itch. We have been camp hosting now for 2 months and we have 1 more to do. We're ready to roll.
Our family is small...we only have one son so this community of RVers has become our extended family as well. We appreciate all the friends we have made so far and hope to increase that number as we move along.
Hope we can meet up one day down the road. Until we'll chat via our blogs. :-)

Wow this is our first WK job and at three months we have Hitch Itch bad. This job is for 5 months so we have 2 more to go. Next time we think we will put a limit of 3 months at one place. We will be doing Oregon and the Redwoods in January on our way back to Nevada for the Annual doctor & dentist visits.

Great looking burgers! You could always use that feather you found to decorate the plate :) You know, like the parsley you always find on the plate that nobody eats :)

I can see why you are getting anxious, in four years, the longest we have stayed was 2 months last winter in FL. We both were sorry we stayed in one place so long.

Enjoy the rest of your time there.

This is exactly why we usually choose very short term assignments...we love the traveling.

K&R - We will be sure to keep track of one another so we can possibly meet up.

We can't wait until we begin traveling and doing what we love...still looking for ways to earn an income while still traveling a lot more.

Enjoyed catching up with you again. Wow...1200 cookies in one week! Noticed you are going to be working a Christmas Tree lot...we have been talking that that is something we might like to do...how did you find the job? Any suggestions on how we could find out about something similar?

They advertise in Workamper for some of the lots, I believe he found us through Workamper a few years ago. He only has a few lots in the San Francisco area and his couples come back year after year.

We suggest to decide upon an area, then check out which company's do the tents for the Christmas trees and call, email and ask if they need any help.

It is really hard work, 30 days of 12+ hour shifts, can't leave the lot since you are all night security as well. We justify it by the pay at the end, not if you count the hours by pay but the lump sum after only 30 days is great. Many lots start with a base pay of anywhere between 3 to 5 thousand, then a bonus at the end.

We thought we would never do it but once we did, we really enjoy the pay and bonus too much to take another type of Christmas seasonal work.

This year we are actually doing a Pumpkin Lot, will let you know how that goes. We think it will be easier and the pay is just as good.
