Our First Journey in the Cougar

Just can’t seem to get away from the wind…right after our arrival in Tucson for a few weeks at Voyager RV Resort we were under a wind advisory and were doing some major rocking and rolling that happened several times during our stay…UGH!

We were putting on the last finishing touches on our home and enjoying relaxation time as well, hot tub almost daily and several glasses of wine was marvelous.

Trusting Camping World again turned out to be a terrible choice. There will be a separate blog entry on the entire fiasco. For now let me say that we have the new skylight and vent covers installed, not the ones we ordered and not properly installed but they are up there. Enough of that situation for now since it only winds me up since we have to change our traveling plans or live with it. We chose to live with it and make our own adjustments because it’s too much of a hassle to get it all corrected.

New fan covers not flush…

Unable to close the original fan door & screen will no longer snap in place so it’s just hanging on.

All that dirt is on the inside of the replacement…

We began our meandering to Upper State New York, very slowly and going to enjoy the journey.

Our first day took us out of Tucson’s heat about 35 miles to Benson at Butterfield RV Resort. We almost worked there and wanted to check it out, just in case another opportunity arises. Check out our separate reviews for all the resorts we will be staying.

Our next day took us a few more miles into Deming, New Mexico at the Escapees, Dreamcatcher Park where we changed our clocks ahead an hour. Weather has been an Achilles heel for us and is dictating our travels. It all began with very windy conditions throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Texas

We stopped at the Isleta RV Resort, just south of Albuquerque and due to the wind, we ended up staying 3 nights, they had a deal that offered the 3rd night free, so we stayed hoping to avoid the wind.

It was still extremely windy on our drive to Amarillo so again we stayed an extra day to avoid it and we were grateful we did because it was ferocious.

Then getting through Tornado Alley without incidents, all awhile looking for open RV Resorts, so due to all of this, there were several hotel stays along our journey that we entered a separate post for all the hotel stays. The hotel costs were phenomenal but a good nights sleep was important to us because weather was frightening and we wanted hot tub time.

We finally arrived at Lake George Escape the last day of April, just in time to begin our 1stday of work on May 1st. Miles counted from Yuma, mpg averaged over 10…WHAT A RIDE…

Lake George is a beautiful area, We are wishing you a happy, satisfying stay there. Jim and I are doing really well here in AZ. Tea sales are phenomenal and we are very pleased with the company. Thank you both.
