Seriously…Where Has All the Time Gone?

We left the east…headed west. Had a few play days then headed to Los Angeles to work the AARP show and now we are working at a Pumpkin Patch.

The AARP Convention in Los Angeles was loads of fun. Those were definitely some long days, 3 @ 15+ days and 2 under 12 hours. Working with Scootaround is always so nice for us, we love the work and most of the people are great. We had a few angry people, but those type of people are usually so unhappy that we end up feeling feel sorry for them. To live their entire lives being so angry, unhappy, sad or fed up is just not the way we choose to live ours.

We had never attended an AARP Convention, and we have to admit it was eventful. There was so much to do with all the seminars, vendors and of course the entertainment they had scheduled. If you haven’t been to one, check it out the next time it is in an area you want to visit, next year they will be in New Orleans and some of the entertainment sounds like a good time.

Once we were done, we took an extra day driving to do the pumpkins, headed straight for the ocean from LA and leisurely drove along it for as much as we could. What a fabulous drive!

Once we arrived at the coast was fabulous, but leaving LA getting there was a nightmare. It took us over 2 hours on a Sunday morning, all due to some sort of marathon that was going on that detoured traffic so much we ended up going miles out of our way only to have to go more miles to get to the roads we needed to take all in lots of traffic.

Then we arrived at the pumpkin patch…didn’t think we would return, and we actually didn’t return to the same lot. This one is located in Walnut Creek, California and it reminds us of a boutique. Very small and quant, and to top it off the people so far have been marvelous. They bring in the kids, take photos, check out the animals and they actually buy pumpkins. Not like last year when all they did was come in for whatever they could get for free. This is nice and even though the hours are long, the weather has been wet and chilly, we are enjoying our time here.

These are just a few of our photos of the Pumpkin Patch, for more photos, check out our Picasa Web Albums, we will be adding more photos as the days go by.

How long will you be working the pumpkin patch? Glad it's turning into a good stop for you.

You're an inspiration, you certainly enjoy life despite working long hours. It's so nice to see positive people like you, but then, isn't that a requirement to be an RVer? ;c)

Are you lookng for the Great Pumpkin in that patch you're tending? Linus would be happy if you find him...

Is it your job to sell the pumpkins?

Isn't the California coastline the best? If you get anywhere near Santa Cruz, shoot me an email, love to meet up with you guys.

We will be here until the 1st of November...then we head to San Diego with 2 weeks in between pumpkins and the Christmas tree lot. We might just head in your direction Kate, we will wait and see as we get closer what our travel route will be, but we will keep you in mind...would love to meet up with you two as well.

Not only do we sell the pumpkins here, we tend to the animals, 2 pigs, 2 goats, 12, now 10 chicks and 6 bunnies. It is an entertainment place for all the kids, we paint pumpkins, we built hay horses for the kids to ride, a fort, a photo area, a movie theater where we show Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin every Friday night, but have not found the Great Pumpkin.

We do have many great pumpkins, some are so big, we call them biggies. It's fun for all and all for fun!

So glad to hear that this year is a better situation.

This year's pumpkin job sounds a bit nicer than your pumpkin patch job last year. You have some unusual-looking pumpkins. I like the white ones. I'm glad you had time for a short break in between jobs.

So good to get an update from you. Are you working for the same people as last year? Just a different place. We are thinking of trying the Pumpkin Patch/Christmas trees again just not in WA. Have fun and enjoy Walnut Creek. My dad used to take me fishing there when I was a little girl - happy memories for me.

You did a pumpkin patch last year so you're experienced pumpkin-ers. Los Angeles traffic sure can be awful but glad you had some time off to see the sights. You know what they say about all work and no play.

You had a long drive from LA to Walnut Creek! But the coast route is beautiful isn't it? I love the pumpkins this year. Is there an explosion of new pumpkins this year?

We have found that there are people out there that aren't happy unless they are miserable. We try to stay away from people like that. Can't image spending your whole life being miserable. Sounds like you are having a good time, good luck with the pumpkins!
