More Fun Times

It was definitely great working just 4 days and having 3 days off to run our errands, to explore more and rest our bodies a lot more.

We did our errands and honey do’s on Monday so we could take the train on Tuesday. The 1880 Train from Hill City to Keystone and back. It’s only a 10 mile drive but only going 10mph it took about an hour one way. The scenery was spectacular.

When we returned, we strolled the streets of Hill City and stopped at some of the shops, especially the Beef Jerky Outlet, and tasted some interesting flavors and even purchased a few bags.

We had lunch at Bumpin Buffalo Bar and Grill, it was okay, nothing spectacular, The Full Dresser burger was overcooked and dry but still very tasty and the Indian Fry Bread Taco Salad was just okay, the fries were seasoned to perfection and had that outer snap to them.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Hill City…the room was spacious, the king bed was so comfortable but the biggest thing was they had their pool and spa open and it was fabulous. The spa was huge and we had some time alone until all the kids came to swim. Still no hot breakfast, only bag breakfast.

It seems to be getting harder to maintain friendships with our Facebook friends due to this current situation we are all in. The most trying thing in all of this is having to block friends over and over again but still remain friends. We believe we still live in the land of freedom, but why can’t we all still be respectful and understand that your way is not our way. You stand firm in your belief, great...allow us the same without slinging the name calling. We are not in this together, we are all in different stages in our lives and have totally different demons, opinions and solutions and all we ask is for you all to respect us and we will do the same. YOU DO YOU AND LET US DO US! SIMPLE!

Something we all should have learned in kindergarten is to be kind, be respectful and to grow with each learning lesson.

Masks or no masks is a big one at this time...there are great arguments on both sides of it...SO YOU DO YOU AND WE WILL DO US! We do not get offended if you choose to wear one or stay home, respect our choice to go out and not wear one...IT IS OUR CHOICE! If you are wearing a mask and are social distancing, then you should be safe and by us not wearing a mask SHOULD NOT EFFECT you at all!

SO PLEASE BE KIND AND DO YOU AS WE CONTINUE TO DO US! WE WON’T JUDGE YOU OR RIDICULE YOU OR BE MEAN IN ANY WAY...ALL WE ASK IS THE SAME!

We received a question from a reader that asked for a description of a typical day at our job. That would depend on the job, and the day.

Our current job is unique, as many of our jobs are, but this one as a Wine Serving Associate each day is different and that’s why we love it. We are either working 10-6pm or 11-7pm or 12-8pm or 1-9pm…our shifts change weekly and at times daily. We are either at a bar dispensing tastes or we are running a POS or working the Kitchen counter or greeting guests and making tasting reservations. Also, stocking shelves because the wines are flying off the shelves and cleaning and restocking our bars after each reservation, or jumping in to help other areas that may need assistance and selling glasses of wine to guests. If we are on the closing shift, we do all of this and then we sweep, vacuum and mop the humongous floor on top of taking out all the trashes, cleaning the restrooms, cleaning and shutting down all the bars which includes “pumping” all opened wine bottles. Yes, it’s a lot of work and that’s the reason we opted to go to only 4 days per week because there are no chairs for us to ever sit at, the only time we sit is for our ½ hour lunch break but it’s downhill to get to our lunch area, which makes it a hard uphill climb coming back. Is it a lot? ABSOLUTELY…BUT, we are having fun. Meeting new people during a fun wine tasting experience, learning more about the different types of wine, exploring this magnificent area on our time off using our deep discounted VIP Cards, makes all the hard work worth it.

Nice to read about your daily tasks. In 2012 we visited the Black Hills and ate lunch at the Crazy Horse Monument cafe. I had one of their Indian taco salads and thought it was fabulous. I still think about it! Keep having fun!
