Crazy I tell you…last week we were in the 90’s and now this week we have inches of snow with patches of whiteouts every now and then…we definitely overstayed our welcome here.
Last week on our days off we did our honey do’s but also did more exploring in Hill City since we were leaving the area to stay at one of our resorts in Rapid City for our last two weeks. We almost missed our window of opportunity before the snowstorm hit the area, but we moved Maggie to the new resort in the nick of time.
We checked out the SD State Railroad Museum in Hill City. Now at the beginning of this season, we did ride the 1800 Train, but didn’t take the time to check out the museum, so we did it this time. It was quite interesting and we loved watching the miniature trains go around and around.
We couldn’t get checked in as early as we liked at our hotel, so we stopped at Candyland for my sweet fix. They have lots of childhood candies that we both loved, so we got a few pounds of yumminess.
Then we went to lunch at Desperados and really enjoyed ourselves.
I had the Turkey Pastrami Sandwich with Onion Rings that were nicely coated with a touch of crunchiness and the sandwich had just the right amount of meat on it with a great tasing Bistro Sauce.
Jerry had the Desperado Burger with Endless Fries…now that was interesting…the burger was made with a blend of elk and buffalo…very lean so the juiciness was not there, but the flavors were wonderful.
Once again we stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Hill City and enjoyed a soak in their marvelous hot tub and this time we had a few hours all by ourselves before the screaming kids came in…it was spectacular!
