It was a crazy week for us…we chose to get away from the “campground “ we had been at for the past few months and head to one of our membership resorts nearby for our last two weeks. We were set to move on our day off, Tuesday, but then the weather was threatening with a snow storm beginning on Monday night through Tuesday…yes, you read that right! We chose to head out on Monday morning before we went to work. Thank goodness since when we got off at 7pm, the snow was already coming down and it was sticking. It was easier driving the Jeep the extra 15 miles to our new resort then trying to get the motorhome there and hook it up. It was cold for a few days, but finally the snow melted and the weather improved.
We took a hotel night in Rapid City at Hilton Garden Inn…nice spa, comfortable bed and a great shower, so we relaxed and had a fabulous evening.
We worked hard again this week and even though we will miss the area, miss the people, miss the winery, we will not be missing the extra hard work we endured throughout this season.
We found a great restaurant in Rapid City, only wish we found it sooner so we could have enjoyed more items on the menu. Sickies Garage is a wonderful place to have drinks and burgers. The ambiance was unique and made us smile a lot. The burgers we had were delicious, pepper bacon thickly sliced and cooked to perfection, and even though the burgers were well done, they did have some moistness left in them. The fries and waffle fries were definitely twice fried because they snapped but were soft inside…best potatoes we’ve had in awhile.
Our last time in Rapid City was spent enjoying ourselves at the Best Western Plus. Our room was spacious with all the amenities…the only thing it was missing was a walk in shower. The pool and spa was spectacular and we enjoyed our alone time. Then to top it off…we got our first real breakfast at a hotel since this whole scamdemic began. We were happy campers!
We have 3 days of work left and then on the road again next week...we still haven’t found work so we think we are going to build bikes again for the winter in Arizona. Life is grand!
