The drive between these two stops
was a fabulous route, the first part was on I-35 South and then onto the best
roads we have been on in a very long time, 36W to 75S.
Upon arrival we knew we had
been here before but we had never wrote about it and we were pleased we chose
to make it a stop, our few day stop has turned into an 11 day stay.
We paid $16 per night for 9
nights for a flat, level, pull through site with water, electric and sewer with
cable and WiFi with lots of room in between sites.
We did visit the casino, ate
at the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinners a few times. Nothing spectacular but not so bad. They also have a convenient store with a
Subway inside which we were able to pick up a few essentials on our last days.
Besides the great price, the
nice site and great amenities the biggest draw for me was the tornado shelter
located a few feet from our site. It
made me feel safe when those storms in the middle of the night were upon us and
I didn’t want to spend the night in the casino, instead we have our emergency
bag packed and we went over and just hung out, one night we even did our
laundry at 3am since the storms continued to grow and come towards us. Being in this part of the country gives me an
uneasy feeling so anything we can do to calm it down feels good.
Our first Saturday night
while we were watching the NASCAR race I continued to hear the race sounds for
real, not just on TV. We found out that
on Saturday nights they have racing at Thunder Hill Speedway so of course we
had to check it out…see our separate blog about our experience at the races.
