While we are working at Amarillo Ranch RV Park we will be receiving a free meal every month at the Big Texan Steak Ranch so this was our first meal and our first time at the steak house. They offer a free limo ride there and we took advantage...

The atmosphere is so cool, especially if someone's trying the 72 ounce challenge, which at this visit there were two who failed...

We both started with Margarita's which were so yummy and Fried Mushrooms that had a wonderfully tasting coating.

I had the Chicken Fried Steak with salad and mashed potatoes...the steak had a delightful taste to it and was so tender, the gravy was a little blah but was a good meal...

Jerry had the Prime Rib with a loaded baked potato and cowboy beans...the prime rib was succulent, tender and flavorful, the beans were cooked to perfection with chunks of meat and tender beans that just sort of melted in your mouth...

As you can see, we cleaned our plates...

Before we got our limo ride back we stopped at the gift shop and found some interesting items...

How you like my cowboy? Before we began traveling full time, he very often wore cowboy hats, tight jeans and cowboy boots, looks like he may be looking at doing it again...hmmmm, I could live with that!

We paid $36.00 for a water, electric, sewer site on gravel that was fairly level.

The lady in the office was accommodating and friendly and the office had a western look to it but this was part of our nightmare adventure so we did not venture out to check it out and didn’t even take a photo.

It seemed like a decent place to stop for the night and if we are ever in the area again, we would stay here.

We paid $26.00 using our Passport America 50% discount membership for a water, electric, sewer, fairy level site on a concrete slab. They offer free cable and WiFi but ours worked just fine.

Good service from the front desk and our escort was very helpful.

We did laundry but they were about to upgrade the laundry area in just a few days so they will have brand new machines.

We hadn’t planned to stay here twice in such a short time but after the nightmare we encountered on Port Aransas we chose to return to a place we felt comfortable at so we chose this park. We didn’t do too much exploring due to our moods but it looks like a nice place to hang out for a night or longer.

If we are ever in the area again we would stay here and we would recommend it to others.

We paid $40.50 using our Good Sam 10% discount membership for a water, electric, sewer site on a concrete slab with a picnic table, and offered free cable and WiFi. Our Verizon worked good so we did not use their WiFi.

The folks in the office were polite and friendly.

It was a rough time in our travels so we didn’t do much venturing out to check out the park but it was NOT what we had expected. The sites were crammed next to each other and many people walking through your site or driving through the empty sites because of the layout of the park, it was exceptionally small.

If we are ever in the area again, we will check out another park to stay.

We paid $37.00 using our Good Sam 10% discount membership for a water, electric, sewer site on gravel. They offered cable and WiFi for free, our Verizon coverage was just about non-existent so we did use their WiFi and it was decent.

Great hospitality from the staff, the area is not the greatest but it had a entrance gate so we did feel safe during our visit.

The pool was extremely frigid but it cooled us off and that was just what we needed since the heat index was high.

We stayed here many years ago when it was a KOA and they have done some updating but the entire area was really poor for our Verizon so we would not stay longer than an overnight visit.

We paid $31.50 using our Good Sam 10% off membership for a water, electric, sewer, level site on gravel. Sites were not on top of one another and all the utilities worked great.

We stayed here many years ago when we first started out when it was a KOA and they have done all sorts of updates to the property. The restrooms were in the process of remodel so we did not take any photos.

The pool was refreshing…

The best part of it was the great Chicken Fried Steak at the Roadrunner Café right onsite. We had heard they will be submitting this recipe into a contest soon and we think they will have a good chance to win. The food was so tasty and it was nice that we could bring our own wine or beer for dinner. They also served breakfast.

We will put this place on our list for future stays.

Using our Passport America 50% off membership, we paid $14.50 for water, electric, sewer, level site on gravel.

A smaller park with only 26 sites that had a very welcoming and friendly host.

No frills but a clean, safe place to spend the night that we would stay again and we would recommend it to others.

We paid $15 using our Passport America 50% off membership for a flat, 30 amp electric, water and sewer gravel site. Our Verizon worked great but they did offer WiFi at an additional charge.

Nice park with great customer service but the connections are so BAD we would not consider staying more than one night and NOT hook up to sewer if we did. The water and electric are at the rear of the site and in order to use the sewer we would have to run the hose under our rig. It seems they are updating everything in the park but we noticed even the sites they are updating they are still putting the sewer on the opposite side…STRANGE! Luckily for us it was one of our traveling stops where we did not plan to hookup the sewer.

It is far enough from I-10 and about 8 miles south of Casa Grande…right in the middle of nowhere.

Looks like a perfect place to do the laundry in their newly renovated Laundry room. The room was huge with quite a few washers and dryers, including some front loading ones for the bigger loads.

The pool and spa were wonderful, even though they advertise a heated pool, it was very refreshing which is what we needed since it was near 90 degrees and we wanted to cool down.

As we said, if not for the strange hookups, we might consider coming back for a longer stay, but for now we would just use it as a one night stopover.

Our plan was to do some shopping in Q but we didn’t realize that EVERYTHING would be closed, including many of the parks.

We paid $22.66 for a flat, gravel, water, electric and sewer site. The folks here were friendly and accommodating. During season this place is packed and as usual in Q the amenities are few.

2017 Update - We could have written this review today, same charges for the same site, same guy checked us in and the same constant wind...hard to sleep with our windows opened but the cool, fresh air at this time of the year was fantastic, but the wind, well that of course is not so great.

We literally blew into this park that is located directly across from the wind farm area.  We rocked and rolled the entire time we were there and actually cut our stay by 2 days.  We just could not deal with it any longer.

We used our Coast to Coast membership and paid $20 per night, $15 in points and $5 for resort fees for water, electric, sewer on flat gravel site.  The concrete slabs and the utilities were in a strange place on most of the sites which created a challenge in setting up.  Each site was private with an oleander fence around them, not only did it make it private it helped with the wind gusts as well.

Our Verizon MiFi and phones had good reception but they also offered WiFi at an additional cost.

The laundry room was small but clean.

The restrooms were immaculate and even had items for use.

According to many of the reviews they have done some upgrading but we have nothing to compare it to since this is our first visit here.  All of the staff were outstanding and were very accommodating with all aspects during our stay.

The pool was not part of any springs which ended up being quite refreshing due to the extensive heat while we were there so we took full advantage of them.  Our air conditioning was on 24/7 due to not only the heat but even when it cooled off a bit at night we could not open our windows due to the wind.

We would recommend and return to the park itself but due to the heat and wind we would not recommend the area.

Sun RV Resorts
2500 Airport Road
Paso Robles, CA 93446

3/29-3/30/2017

We paid $29.97, using our Passport America 50% off Membership for a water, electric, sewer pull through gravel site that was flat with WiFi and cable included. They have several options of sites available that range from $60 to $100 per night, we chose the Economy which is on gravel near the highway and it was not so bad at all.

We had only planned on staying one night but added one more due to windy conditions and laundry, which worked out perfectly for us.

All sorts of games to play...

There was the pool and spa which were inviting...

Also the adult spa area would be nice to just hang out...

The showers and restrooms were immaculate...

They are part of the Sun RV Resort group and they have a sister resort just a few miles away, both look outstanding.

The next time we are in the area we will definitely stay for a few days longer to enjoy the wine tours. We would highly recommend this place, even though it is quite pricey, using our Passport America made it a marvelous choice.
