Cedar City KOA

1121 North Main Street
Cedar City, UT 84721
435-586-9872 or 800-KOA-9873
5/29-5/31/2015

We paid $49.58 per night using our KOA 10% membership card for a pull through water, electric, sewer site on gravel that was not very level. There was a concrete slab for the BBQ and picnic table, and a grass area too. The price also included free Wifi and free cable.

The entire park was well maintained with inviting landscaping and is nearby many wonderful areas to see.

Even though they have pet policies not everyone abides by them like our neighbors for instance. They left their yappy little dog in their trailer when they were gone and it barked but when they left it in the trailer with the door open while they were visiting in the park and it continued to bark for hours right into our windows which we had opened because of the warm temperatures that we had to finally call to complain. The woman on the phone said she would immediately take care of it and within minutes she found our neighbor and they came and closed their door or took the dog with them, not sure which since we were already in bed for the night.

The laundry was located at the front of the campground which was open to the public and most of the washers were out of order so we chose not to do our laundry while we were there.

The entire staff were very accommodating and were available and eager to assist when we needed anything and kept the restrooms spotless.

Even though the price is very high, we would probably stay there again and would highly recommend it to others.

Chill Out and Freeze Out

Last weekend was time for a big Walmart stop and that is exactly what we did.  We drove about 100 miles north to Richfield on UT-89 and it was a gorgeous drive.  No mountain climbs or descends just mountains all around us and a few we drove through.  Loved this drive, check out all of our photos of this drive and more at our Photo Web Albums.

Due to the weather forecast of freezing rain for Saturday morning here on the mountain we chose to take off after work on Friday afternoon.  We were on the road by 3:30pm and settled in at the Richfield KOA by 6pm, just in time to watch the NASCAR Trucks in Kansas.

We did our huge shop at Walmart on Saturday and returned to the Richfield KOA in time to watch the NASCAR Sprint race but due to the weather in Kansas there was a long delay so we stayed awake until after 11pm to finish watching it.

Work is still fun even though we have an idiot working with us, but only one and he is not management which makes it easier to handle.  We never understand why there always seems to be one person who just refuses to follow the rules and gets away with it.  He is not family and there is a lot of family members working and they work hard, him…not so much!

The plan is to hang out this weekend and just chill out, or should I say freeze out.  Yep, another snow storm hit the area and we once again not only got a few inches of that white stuff but the temperatures dropped to below freezing for the next 5 or more nights, and highs only in the 50’s.  Hopefully summer will arrive soon since this weather is getting old fast, way too cold for us!

Richfield KOA

590 W 600 S
Richfield, UT  84701
888-562-4703
8/29/2011, 5/20/2012 & 5/10/2015

2015 UPDATE - We paid $40.06 for 2 nights using $10 in KOA points and also using a special promotion for staying Friday night and receiving Saturday night for $10.

It was cold, rainy and all the amenities were not opened yet since it was prior to their season.  New owners have taken over and they are doing some remodeling of things but otherwise it looks in great shape as it has been the last few visits we have made to this location.

We paid $34.65 using our KOA membership card for a water, electric, sewer pull-thru level, shady, gravel site with free cable and WiFi.  Our Verizon phone and MiFi worked great and we hooked up our dish for NASCAR on Speed Channel which was not included in the lineup.

Both times we visited, we noticed how very clean and crisp the entire park was and it was right in the middle of a neighborhood.  Everywhere you look it is well manicured and clean.

We relaxed on our patio, had a nice glass of wine and were not bothered by dogs not on leashes.  They had rules and they followed up on them.  As a matter of fact they have a sign on the grass at the entrance to the office that reads “Here lies the last dog that pooped on my site”.  Or, something to that effect…LOVED IT!  Again, we are not dog haters, but we do not have any and do not appreciate them exploring our site and leaving a piece of them behind.  There are so many great dog owners and it only takes a few bad ones to really make it bad on everyone and that is a shame.

If we are ever in the area we will definitely stop by here again and we highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area.

Bryce Canyon Adventurous Weekend

After work on Friday we were finally able to take a bike ride to check out our backyard and what a fantastic ride it turned out to be. Old Bryce Town across the street from where we work at Ruby’s General Store finally opened so our first stop was checking it all out, especially the Ice Cream Store! After enjoying our treat we adventured to the back roads and we are so glad we did.  What a view right in our own backyard.  It is not open to the public so it was so surreal and exactly what we needed to see.

On Saturday we took the shuttle bus into the park, our first stop which is the last shuttle stop before they begin the trip back was Bryce Point. It is impossible to take a bad photo because everywhere you look is such an amazing place to take another great shot.

We plan to do several trips into the park so we only got off at two of the stops this trip, our second stop was at Sunset Point.

There is also a narrated tour bus that we will look into which takes the drive a lot further into the park that will be a future trip for us since reservations are needed.

Next week will be our shopping trip to one of the Walmart stores for our monthly stock up of needed items.  It will be a 100 mile one way so we will stay the night in Richfield, Utah and return on Sunday.
