We have not updated weekly as planned, but we will fill you in on all the happenings since our last update mid June.
Our first 5-day work week was tough, but we made it through. We close at 9pm our first 3 days, then a mid shift on Friday, and then on Saturday we do the 7am shift to do the Pancake Breakfast, but we begin our days off by noon once we finish the breakfast. It’s a good schedule that breaks up all the monotony in the typical schedule and this is our view every Saturday morning.
We attempted to go away on our days off every week and our biggest gripe is customer service, or better described as lack of it. We give 100% at work every day but in return we get zilch, nothing, nada on our time off. Every week it is something else, from customer service to malfunctioning toilets, no air conditioning, uncomfortable chairs & beds, nonworking pools & hot tubs and so much more. We are just done with paying well over $200 per night at hotels that we don’t get what we paid for. It looks like for the next few weeks we will be hanging out and catching up on our honey do’s.
The first one we worked on was our shower. The walls were yellowing badly due to the sunroof, so we painted it black with glitter in it and it looks fantabulous! Replaced our shower faucet, our shower head, and the sink faucet too, and they look great.
We made it through the busyness months and now being mid August, we are slowing down, and our hours are lessening this week. We are so looking forward to having more time to spend resting our old bones and continue with the healing of our bodies.
Also, we both are working on losing some weight with low carb eating, not too extreme but enough to lose some of this extra weight I’ve put on since my injury. We have only been low carbing for a few weeks and are already feeling the beneficial effects. Cutting out breads, pasta and sugars has been easy for us. Looking forward to continuing down this journey together with more and more results.
There have been several wicked storms come through with horrendous winds and torrential downpours the past few months. We lost power for several hours at least 5 separate times since we’ve been here and we no longer have a generator, so it has been inconvenient for us, especially on the hot, muggy times.
We now have less than 2 months before we head out and we are getting antsy, so we have scheduled a few trips before we go since hotel prices are getting lower.
