Michael David Winery

This winery has it all…

We had a great relaxing time just exploring the grounds…

Tasting the different wines…

 Having a perfectly divine lunch…

If you find yourself "Stuck in Lodi again..." then check this place out, it has great character and wonderful workers who told us some great stories about this wineries history...like how the weeping willow trees came about on the grounds and how each one is created from the main one.

It was an exceptional day and we would highly recommend it to everyone!

We received a gift certificate at Christmas from one of past employers so we thought we would finally use it.

We chose the 2 For $25 which we started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip & Chips and they were wonderful...the chips were light and crispy and the dip was cheesy and loads of spinach and chunks of artichokes.

Sizzling Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp was one of our choices which had a great charred bourbon flavor and the potatoes were crisp on the outside and very tasty and tender on the inside...the dish was perfect.

We also shared the 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese with Pepper Chicken Tenders and it was scrumptious. The macaroni was done to perfection and the cheeses were delightful and then add some bacon to it all and there was a tantalizing explosion in our mouths.

Lighthouse Restaurant, Marina & Resort

2016 UPDATE - We paid $17 per night using our C2C membership...$10 in points and $7 in fees and the place has not changed one bit...still unlevel sites desperately in need of some major TLC. The restaurant was closed for remodeling and we wish we would have read our own review when planning this stay...we would have found something different. We left a day earlier due to them finally sprucing up the place. They mowed the long grass and took down many hanging branches but since it had not been done in a very long time the debris everywhere was a nuisance to my breathing and made it impossible for us to even sit out and enjoy the fresh air...instead we were stuck inside and had to run the air because at first when we left the windows open the debris came in all over our sheets and counters...it was a mess. DID WE MENTION WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING...

We stayed here using our Coast to Coast membership and paid $13 per night for a FHU back-in. They charge an additional $3 per night for sewer, otherwise for a water and electric would have only been the $10 per night.

The road into the park is a levee, a narrow, very wavy levee, but the scenery was fabulous and if you are into water activities, you are in the right place.

Looks like improvements are continuing but...

They should have started in the laundry facilities. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers and the room is very large, just laid out badly. The paint is old and chipping and the washers were filthy with dog hair. We had to totally clean out each one of them before even using them, it was nasty. We understand that it is not entirely the fault of the park about the dog hair, that is a whole other story about irresponsible pet owners that we will not get into at this time. Having just 3 washer and dryers for a park with so many sites is just not beneficial to anyone. Doing laundry is always a chore, but having to wait for one to open up just drags out the process.

The sites were not level due to the very thick and long grass, not from not maintaining though, they mowed everyday we were there. We were a bit uncomfortable with the lawn mowers, they came right into our site and began mowing and weed whacking under and around our rig, outdoor furniture, tires and hookups. Usually they do not go into the sites that are occupied but these guys did, we kept a close eye on them so we could see if there was any damage done.

The roads are dirt and they keep the dust down tremendously with a watering sprinkling system that is designed to wet down the roads only, it was a fabulous setup.

On Friday, the weekend warriors showed up with all there boats, there were some real beauties. The staff were all exceptionally thoughtful and helpful. We got great phone reception which made for fantastic internet service and setting up our dish was no problem since we opted to be located in the open area they have available, otherwise they have some sites that never see the light of the sun due to extensive tree coverage. They do offer WiFi but no cable.

Looking back on this review, it may sound as if it is not a great park, for us that is true. Speaking to others, it is the perfect spot for them, so I guess you will have to be your own judge and decide whether it is right for you or not.

Right across the street they have a restaurant, we tried it our first night here. What a nice view and the food was fabulous. The best New England Clam Chowder we have had in quite awhile, it was not as thick as I like it but it had a certain spice in it that enhanced the flavor to the extreme of tasty.

As many of you know, we both quit smoking over 7 years ago and gave up drinking alcohol at the same time since for us they went hand and hand. Well we have been experimenting lately and have tried having a drink or two, just to see if we wanted a cigarette with it. The good news is that we no longer desire a cigarette, so having a drink with our meals is at times a welcomed treat…but not always!

These were a bit sour and very tequila strong, just the way we used to like them but now we prefer a tamer brew.

The Stuffed Shrimp was good, the shrimp were huge and very snappy with a great flavor, the stuffing was a bit on the tangy side and it was not to my liking. The seafood platter was perfect, with a balance of different and delicious seafood tastes.

We would highly recommend eating here.

Nice Travel Days…Others Not So Much!

We left Palm Desert and with not much time to spare until our next rotation began in Bullhead City. Only about half of the drive was on the Interstate and the rest on some great highways. We stopped in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the Havasu Falls RV Resort and enjoyed the pool for a few hours talking with a couple from San Diego who were on their last part of their 30 day travel to many of the National Parks in Utah and Arizona.

Worked for Lt Blender at Sam’s in Bullhead City and this event was so much better than Palm Desert. We only had a mile ride on our bikes, the place was so much busier and we made much better sales which made us much more money. We hope this trend continues since we are planning several more rotations with this company.

We left Bullhead City and headed to Sacramento with a few great travel days and one that was very challenging. We left Barstow and headed to Bakersfield with a short day of 150 miles planned. Most of the drive there was wind, even though the weather predicted no wind for that day. This is a major truck route and when they passed us we felt the additional wind a few times when it felt it had lifted us off the ground.

In some areas it is a two lane highway that had all double yellow lines which meant NO PASSING EVER, apparently this idiot in a black sports car did not see those lines. He had 2 semis and about 6 cars ahead of him when he came out into our lane…at first we thought it was a vehicle we were catching up to but then we realized he was coming right at us and would not be able to pass all these vehicles and it looked as if he did not even consider getting back in line. We had to leave the highway onto the emergency lane completely as he barely missed us.

At another moment we watched a jet plane that was really low make a turn towards us that came even lower and then it was gone…weird!

About a mile to our exit we began to take a deep breath and relax but then there was an accident between two semis which took us over an hour for that last mile.

We are so grateful that these were all close calls and nothing really happened to us but we are so happy that those not so great travels days are few and far between each other and we are grateful that we are now out of the heat and into some perfect temperatures both days and nights.

For the next 10 days we are hanging out in the Isleton/Lodi area just relaxing until our next rotation at Sam's Club in Sacramento begins.

This is a classy place that if we were golfers we would definitely spend more time here since a round of golf per day is included.

We paid $40 per night using our Good Sam 10% discount for a back in site with electric, water, sewer on a concrete slab with privacy greenery on both sides. Free WiFi and satellite channels is included.

The restrooms are immaculate and very up to date...

The registration area has a little store with some needed items...

Feel like a dip in the pool, relax in the spa, or just hang out with a fire on the patio lakeside...

We would highly recommend this place, even if you are not a golfer and whenever we are in the area we will definitely stay here again.
