We finally realized by taking the slower roads less traveled that they all look the same due to the tree lined roads, so we will be taking the highways going forward with more scenic views.
Lake Placid is a quant little town with their focus on winter activities and since we won’t be here for that, we checked it out anyway.
Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum was way too expensive for what little they had, even though it was very interesting. We received the senior discount that gave us a much more reasonable amount of $24 for both.
We then went across the street to The Boat to do some local wine tastings. We ended up tasting several wines and decided on 2 bottles, will let you all know about them in the future when we drink them in a few months.
Checked into our hotel at the Crowne Plaza early so we could enjoy the hot tub and pool before the kids showed up and we were just leaving when that happened. The hot tub was the perfect temperature but it was the tiniest tub we have been in, the pool was cold but very refreshing. Our view was spectacular!
We were going to order from the restaurant in the hotel but lunch stopped at 4pm and the dinners did not look as good as the lunches did so we ordered pizza from a local shop, Main Street Pizza & Pasta. We both decided that New York style pizza is not our favorite, too thin of a crust. It was tasty and so was the Greek salad we ordered but we prefer deep dish, or at least thicker crust.
We will not be going anywhere these upcoming days since it’s 4th of July and we don’t get out amongst the crazies, we bought stuff to BBQ instead. Jerry has a new job, he will be shuttling guests to the tubing area to float back to the campground…the river is still frigid so we won’t be doing it any time soon, if at all.
