We drove the same road, Iron Mountain Road, as we did back in 2008 and it was spectacular then and still just as spectacular today. Lots of almost roller coaster like curves, one car tunnels, and the most fantabulous views of not only Mount Rushmore, but also the magnificent Black Hills. WOW! As usual, the photos dim in the brilliance of what our eyes could see, but check them out and if you ever have the opportunity to visit the Black Hills area, do not hesitate to spend that time sightseeing, not a road will disappoint.
We had more honey do’s since we will be leaving this campground in just over a week now, so we opted to stay close and get another day filled with hot tubbing, long showers and stretching out in a King bed suite. Life is Grand!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Hill City. We got a King Suite that was great, a hard shower head, a comfortable bed, and a great hot tub. Customer service was excellent, they allowed us to check in early and were very accommodating.
