We finally got a call mid February from a nearby resort that needed help in the kitchen and bartending. It was perfect timing for us so we thought it was a sign for better things ahead. Our event was just ending and we could immediately head there which was great for them because their help just walked off the job with no notice at all. That is never a good sign and there was an extremely negative review online that was not from them that just walked off but from another disgruntled employee. We will make our own judgment since we needed a steady income and nothing else was happening.
The work and the owners are good but Jerry only getting about 20 hours and me strictly on commission at the pool bar was not cutting it. Tips were not great because when I charged their tabs, it automatically added a 15% gratuity on it, BUT I did not receive it in its entirety since I received a third of total intake which they included the 15% in the grand total. It was strange and I didn’t think it was even legal but when questioned they said it was the way it was done, so we had to live with it until we found something else.
We’re barely holding on and we know the universe is trying to teach us a lesson but we are so done and just want to live our lives without all these roadblocks. And, yes we are grateful for all we have, but is it that wrong to want more?
In a moment things can change and we think they have, but at the same time we are afraid of believing in it just yet…
There was no drama when we told them that financially it would not work for us and we left. We headed for Casa Grande with hopes that this just might be the one that we can enjoy the work AND make some good money too, only time will tell.

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. I hope and pray that things will improve soon.
You should also be leaving an On-Line review towards that last place as well as reporting them to the IRS.
Be Safe and Wishing you the best on your new job.
It's about time.
